ARE YOU WEDDING DAY READY?
Time flies by so quickly on wedding days, so being prepared and organized helps optimize your time so you don't feel rushed or miss things! Below I’ll be sharing some tips of what to have ready for your photographer that you may not think of, as well as some ideas for special things to have on your wedding day while getting ready!
1. INVITATION SUITES
It’s very common for couples to forget to bring an extra set of your wedding invitation suite, but is a very pretty element to incorporate into your detail shots. If you think it’s something you’ll forget to bring send your photographer all your invitations and ask if they can bring it with them! This is not an essential part of a wedding day but creates for some really beautiful detail shots that have your names and date on it!
2. HAVE YOUR DRESS AND ACCESSORIES READY
If you can designate a bridesmaid or family member to prep your dress if it needs steaming or just to have it ready and available when your photographer arrives, as well as all accessories such as jewelry, shoes, perfume, veil, heirlooms, garters, etc. Having all of these pieces ready to be photographed for your photographer will optimize time so they can knock that out first instead of waiting while we try to collect all the pieces. More than that it’s one less thing the bride has to think about so they can just enjoy getting ready without the added stress!
3. WEDDING DAY PERFUME AND COLOGNE
There’s something to be said about the way a smell can bring you back to a memory and how you felt in that moment. Your wedding day is something you of course will always remember, but how cool is it to have a perfume and cologne that you have specifically for your wedding!? Every time you smell scent it will take you back to the happiest day of your life! It doesn’t have to be something you wear every day after, but maybe one you bring out for anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, date night, etc. If you decide to do this be sure to let your photographer know so that we can capture this detail shot!
4. KEEP YOUR GETTING READY SPACED CLEAN
With the hustle and bustle of the day getting ready it can be easy to leave drinks, wrappers, trash and other miscellaneous things laying around. If you can have a few designated people to do a few 10 second tidy’s every now and then it will help making the getting ready shots look as clean as possible. Having other things in the photos can be super distracting, and you’ll be glad they weren’t in the shot later!
5. WHO’S HELPING YOU GET DRESSED?
Whether it’s your momma, step mom, sister, or maid of honor don’t forget to have them photographed getting you dressed, helping with the veil, and putting your shoes on! These photos are some of the sweetest getting ready moments, and are typically with the people very closest to you so its something special you’ll always to look back on.
6. POST CEREMONY FAMILY PHOTOS
When family photos are organized they can be done super quickly so that you have as much time taking photos of you and you new husband or wife. However, often times it’s hard to wrangle all family members and keep them in one spot until all the shots are done. A way to make family photos go as quickly and efficiently as possible is to create a shot list, if possible with all combinations and names written down. If you have time before the wedding day to do this your photographer can yell out names so that the next group will be ready to go. This checklist will also help be sure that you get a photo with everyone you want to without leaving anyone out.
These are just a few pieces of advice that will help maximize time on your wedding and for your photographer to be as efficient as possible! :)
